Lower operating costs and a business-friendly environment
The company cited Northern Nevada's location as a key reason for its decision to expand into the area during its official announcement at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada community luncheon held Thursday.
"The new Sparks plant allows us to be strategically located to better meet the demands of our West Coast customers and help us to grow our business," said Anthoni Foti, Hose Master executive vice president. "Lower operating costs and a business-friendly environment were also key factors in our decision to move to Northern Nevada."
Founded in 1982 with five employees, Hose Master now employs more than 350 people at its various facilities. The company boasts more than 350,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Cleveland, Houston and Atlanta. It has a sister company in Torino, Italy as well.
Hose Master also specializes in creating custom pieces quickly for customers and continuously develops new products, said Mike Kazmierski, president and CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.
"They make connectors of hoses for machinery but they also have a fairly sophisticated research and development component," Kazmierski said.
Hose Master is the latest in a list of company announcements for the area, which include high profile companies such as Tesla Motors' gigafactory as well as Switch's new SUPERNAP data center. The company's arrival also adds to the area's growing number of advanced manufacturing operations.
